NFU Scotland leader Allan Bowie has launched an appeal for farmers to get involved in shaping an agricultural policy fit for the future.
“We need a policy which is designed to suit our farming and crofting practices. It is now our responsibility to get things right for future generations.”

Mr Bowie was speaking ahead of a meeting expected this week with Defra secretary Andrea Leadsom, reports the Press & Journal.
Last month, he outlined his thoughts on Brexit in a speech to the St Andrews Business Club.
He is “pretty upbeat” about Brexit and believes we can do better outside the EU if we address non-EU-related key issues such as food security.
But he also believes that farmers must do more to explain what it’s doing on issues such as animal welfare and acting as a steward of the countryside.
