Robotic tractors could help fill any fall in farm worker numbers after Brexit, an agricultural technology expert has told peers.
Professor Simon Blackmore said that the machines could “replace significant numbers” of seasonal workers.
“There is this opportunity… to be able to replace significant numbers of seasonal workers with highly automated machines.”

New technology had the potential to be “very disruptive” to the agriculture industry, he said.
Prof Blackmore, head of engineering at Harper Adams University, was giving evidence to the House of Lords’ Science and Technology Select Committee.
