Brexit labour shortage ‘could destroy British veg industry’

One of Britain’s leading growers says his vegetables could disappear from supermarket shelves if Brexit creates a labour shortage.

Yorkshire farmer Guy Poskitt grows 80,000 tonnes of vegetables a year.

“My business would have to close; we could not serve our customers without the availability of migrant workers.”

Mr Poskitt says immigration controls in the wake of the Brexit vote could prevent thousands of Eastern Europeans from working in the UK.
