A group of 18 organisations representing the UK livestock sector has called for a Brexit transition period to protect domestic produce.
Under the chairmanship of Chris Dodds, secretary of the Livestock Auctioneers Association, the organisations met Defra minister George Eustice and his team in London.
The meeting focused on Brexit priorities and how the group could assist in communicating ideas from a number of different areas within the industry.
Trade, labour needs and future support were top of the agenda; with securing tariff free access to the EU and access to both skilled and unskilled labour post Brexit being high priorities.
