A shortage of seasonal labour is putting farms at risk of going out of business due to a lack of seasonal labour, an MP has warned.
“I know that opinions were split over Brexit but one thing they are all concerned about is access to labour.”
Helen Whately MP
Helen Whately, Conservative MP for Faversham and Mid Kent, issued the warning during a Westminster Hall debate on Wednesday (30 November)
MPs used the debate to call for the introduction of a fresh seasonal agricultural workers scheme, following the scrapping of the previous programme in 2013.
