The Pesticides Action Network has launched a campaign calling for support to ensure that EU directives and regulations serve as a baseline for British pesticide laws.
Leaving the EU the government could allow dangerous pesticides banned elsewhere in Europe to be used in the UK, reports The Ecologist.
The vote to leave the EU will force the government to reassess the rules that govern the use of pesticides in agriculture, amenity and homes and gardens in the UK, it says.
This could lead to rigorous, precautionary regulations – but it could also see current legislation watered down for pesticides.
