Farmers will fail to feed the nation successfully if migrant workers are excluded from the UK, an influential group of MPs was told.
Food imports and prices could increase if access to migrant labour was closed down post-Brexit, said Country Land and Business Association deputy president Tim Breitmeyer.
Mr Breitmeyer was among three farm leaders giving evidence to the House of Commons rural affairs select committee on Wednesday (22 February).
The CLA’s full response to the select committee inquiry is available here.
Also giving evidence were NFU deputy president Minette Batters and Tenant Farmers Association chief executive George Dunn.
