The government’s lack of a coherent post-Brexit policy for agriculture threatens to undermine the sector, farmers have warned.
NFU president Meurig Raymond issued the warning in a keynote speech to the union’s annual conference in Birmingham.
Much of his ire was directed at Defra secretary Andrea Leadsom, who was on the platform as he addressed conference delegates on Tuesday (21 February).
The government’s recent White Paper outlining its approach to Brexit was unclear when it came to agriculture, Mr Raymond told delegates.
