UK ministers and negotiators must deliver on a pledge by Defra Secretary Andrea Leadsom that future trade arrangements will not disadvantage British farmers, says Ulster Unionist MEP Jim Nicholson.
Mr Nicholson said Mrs Leadsom had set out five principles to shape future food and farming policy in the UK.
But he warned: “It is clear that within these broad principles there was no new detail in relation to the potential shape of agricultural policy once the UK leaves the European Union.”
The lack of information was frustrating for farmers, said Mr Nicholson.
