A free trade agreement between the UK and EU is vital for the dairy industry, says the European Association of Dairy Trade.
Any future deal should be as close to the present situation as possible, with no tariffs or tariff barriers and minimal customs borders, says Eucolait.
The UK imports more than €3bn (£2.58bn) of dairy products from the EU-27, with more than €1bn (£0.86bn) worth of UK exports going to the continent.
Eucolait says tariffs or other barriers would be “extremely detrimental, especially on the EU side”, with the UK likely replacing EU trade with imports from the US, New Zealand and Australia.
