Government still unclear on trade after Brexit, warns parliament

Agriculture will face significant regulatory barriers if UK trade with the EU reverts to World Trade Organization rules post-Brexit, MPs have warned.

This will mean steep tariffs and non-tariff barrier for many goods exporters, warns a report by the House of Commons international trade committee.

The committee urges the government to set out as clearly as possible the likely consequences of the WTO scenario – and to ensure it makes contingency plans for that eventuality.
