Farm Brexit policy battle predicted in years ahead

Uncertainties surrounding Brexit make for a difficult few years in farming, analysts have warned.

Richard King, head of research at consultants Andersons, said farmers should prepare their businesses to face a less certain future.

They should focus on controllable aspects of their business – improving efficiency, boosting productivity and managing costs better.

Although the weak pound had seen commodity prices increase, input prices could also rise further during 2017, said Mr King.
