Any sudden changes post-Brexit could be disastrous for the agricultural industry, Scottish farm leaders have warned.
Steadying the ship in turbulent times would be critical as the industry adapted to life outside the European Union, industry bodies told Holyrood’s rural economy committee.
The committee is taking evidence on the implications of the outcome of the EU referendum for Scotland’s rural sectors.
NFU Scotland policy director Jonnie Hall acknowledged that change was required – but said there was a need to make sure the pendulum didn’t swing too far or too fast.
