NFU Scotland has outlined its post-Brexit vision for Scottish agriculture to be profitable, innovative and efficient.
The union says it wants market returns – rather than subsidies – to be the primary driver of farm profitability.
Its vision is outlined in a discussion paper Change – New Agricultural Policy for Scotland Post-Brexit, which is being sent to members, stakeholders and politicians.
Exiting Europe presents the challenge of unpicking more than 40 years of operating within the Common Agricultural Policy, says the union.
