Michael Gove hints at cuts to area payments

Defra secretary Michael Gove has suggested that support payments are likely to be reduced for larger UK farmers post-Brexit.

Mr Gove was appearing on The Andrew Marr Show on BBC television on Sunday (2 July).

He was asked if it was true wealthy farmers would receive less money under a new UK support regime than they do now.

The one-word reply from the secretary of state was “Yes”.
